World's Fair Park in Knoxville
In 1982, the Knoxville International Energy Exposition, more commonly known as the World's Fair, took place in this fair city. Today, the site is known as World's Fair Park, The park is a delightful public space with rolling lawns, botanical gardens, waterfalls and fountains. The Sunsphere, which was the focal point of the Knoxville World's Fair, shines like a golden beacon 266 feet high. Each of its 360 windows reflects the sunlight with the help of 24-karat gold dust laminated within a vinyl film. The Park is a great place to relax in Knoxville.World's Fair Park is also home to several walks and lawns, as well as water features. Explore the Park via the HGTV Walk, which consists of beautiful plants, shrubs and trees. The Festival Lawn and Performance Lawn often host exciting events such as outdoor concerts and films. Kids love to put on their bathing suits and cool off in the Court of Flags Fountains.
