Knoxville Zoo

The Zoo in Knoxville, Tennessee is a beautifully maintained sanctuary for more than 900 of the world's most interesting creatures, some of them endangered or threatened. In addition to animal exhibits and attractions, visitors can purchase souvenirs at the Zoo Shop, and delicious food at the Safari Grill. Zoo amenities include stroller and wheelchair rentals. Create lasting memories -- get your photo taken by the Zoo Photographers, and create calendars, mugs or other keepsakes. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Knoxville Zoo's critters.

FAQs

  • Can visitors interact with any of the animals?

At the Williams Family Giraffe Encounter, Zoo guests have the opportunity to feed special snacks to these gentle long-necked African mammals. Jumbe, Lucille and Patches are 3 giraffes who love these special tasty treats, which can be purchased for $5. Also in the Clayton Family Kids Cove, kids get close to budgie birds.
  • What are some of the Zoo's special attractions?

Both the Zoo Carousel and Zoo Choo Choo mini-train ride are open during the warm weather months. A unique Zoo feature is the Camel Ride ($5) on a real live "desert ship" that can go for a week without drinking any water! Summers are hot in Knoxville, so kids of any age can cool down in the Clayton Safari Splash water feature. Wee Play Adventure is fun spot for tots, and they'll get to see Drogo the Komodo Dragon!
